"Arctic Blast"

Michael Shanks, an actor made famous by his role in Stargate SG1 as Daniel Jackson, is currently in Hobart!!! Yes, I mean Hobart, Tasmania! A real, live, famous person is in Hobart!!

He is currently here to film "Arctic Blast", a Sci Fi with a similar storyline to that of "The Day After Tomorrow." He is rumoured to be shooting a scene in Salamanca, but I cant find out exactly when he is going to be where (surprise, surprise he doesn't want to be mobbed by geeky SG1 fans. Yes, I do realise that I just called myself a geek.).

While this isn't as cool as if it were Jason Momoa (Ronan Dex) or Christopher Judge (Teal'c), its still pretty awesome. So, Hobartians, make sure you keep your eyes peeled while you are around the city for the next few weeks, and if you do happen to run into Michael make sure you grab a couple of autographs.

I don't spend a lot of time in Salamanca, although if you do find the time, let me know and I reckon I'd show up.

You could check whether they are using the Goodwood Studio at the Hobart Technopark. Other than that, you could think about any places that look like they'd fit with a film about people watching an object in space: observatories, big satellite dishes, that kind of thing. Good luck!

Actually, there was something that looked similar to a movie shoot going on at Uni yesterday, not quite sure what that was all about. Didn't see any cameras or anything, but there was the huge truck and a bunch of tents and some cold-looking people.

Tips for a potential stalker:

1.Find out who's doing the catering and what their location schedule is. Follow them.

2.Ring all the hotels in Hobart (best bet would be either Grand Chancellor or Wrest Point) and ask to be connected to Michael Shanks. Then stake out the hotel you got connected at until you see them exit and follow them. (This actually worked for a fan of Bradley James (Arthur from Merlin) when the cast was in France!)

I saw that, too, Martin- down near the Chem building. Could have been something to do with the movie. It would make sense for a hero scientist to be at the university.

It looked like a catering setup. Should've gone over and asked someone what it was for.

I reckon that he is most likely staying at the Grand Chancellor, but I think they would be too smart to actually confirm that he is there.

Outside the Chem building, that's the one. I don't really know what was going on there, just looked like serious business!
